Almost everyone has heard the phrase “one step forward; two steps backwards”. For most that means that they can never seem to get ahead no matter how hard they try. But what if you weren’t meant to get ahead at that moment?
Hope and faith is the one step forward. Patience is the two steps backwards.
There very likely is a reason you are taking those two steps backwards. It could be that you aren’t quite ready for the path you are attempting to walk. It might be that it really isn’t the direction you should take so the Universe is giving you a chance to recognize that this isn’t the direction you should go and make the changes necessary before it’s much more difficult or even too late. Maybe there was something you missed along the way that you need to pay attention to before you can go “full boar” into your future.
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s your own fears that hold you back.
Regardless of the reason you are taking those “two steps backwards”, the truth of the matter is you never actually take two steps back. You can never fully walk backwards on the same path you came forwards on. The surroundings may look familiar, or even the same. But it’s not. There are subtle changes, differences, in the surroundings and in yourself.
Each moment is an opportunity to learn, explore, enjoy, contemplate, and challenge yourself. When you find yourself taking those two steps back, stop for a moment and really look around. There might just be that rose you forgot to stop and smell along the way….
